Use a Different Uber Service to beat the surge pricing

According to Harry Campbell, an Uber driver who runs The Ride Share Guy, a blog and podcast for rideshare drivers and passengers, different types of Uber services have different surges.

He points out that the surges for different Uber services are different. Shopping around for the best deals can often save you money.

"Each level of car service rises on its own," Campbell explains. "So, if you regularly take UberX and there's a 3x surge, you'd save money by using Uber Select (normally approximately 2.5x the price of UberX) and get a nicer car!"

You can also save money by comparing different rideshare services.

Using Lyft Rydei or other services, according to Campbell, can be a wonderful way to save money during high rush hours.
